Facebook Merges Power Editor and Ads Manager Into One Tool

FacebookNews: Facebook Merges Power Editor and Ads Manager Into One Tool

When Power Editor and Ads Manager were first introduced by Facebook, the two tools were drastically different. While Power Editor was known for its ad creation and editing features, Ads Manager was preferred by the marketers for its easy usability.

But with each update, the interface of both the tools changed so much that they started to resemble each other. The good news is Facebook launched the new Ads Manager this week, and it is basically a combination of its older version and the Power Editor.

Now what does it exactly mean for marketers? According to me, major but positive changes under these three areas:

Guided creation

This feature allows marketers to undergo the process of creating campaigns, ad sets and ads. Previously, it was the only way to make campaigns in Ads Manager. On the other hand under Power Editor, marketers could either use “Guided Creation” or “Quick Creation” – depending upon the time and convenience while creating the ad.

While the former was same as in the Ads Manager, Quick Creation enabled them to create a campaign quickly by providing only the basic details. However, in the Ads Manager, marketers can now continue to use the Quick Creation option if they chose that earlier in Power Editor. If not, they can make a fresh start.

Facebook will automatically set the creation method, that has been used most number of times, as default in the new Ads Manager. However, marketers are free to change this whenever.

Automatic drafts

This development is a boon for marketers who prefer to create campaigns and set ads in phases. Earlier, this is what the bottom left corner of the Guided Creation in the old Ads Manager would look like:

There was no Drafts button!

If the marketers closed this window, they would lose all their work. But not anymore! In the upgraded version, Facebook has made sure the marketers don’t have to restart work on the campaigns again in case they accidentally (or not) close the window.

All the work will be saved in drafts automatically. Despite this, marketers will have to review and publish any changes before making them live.

Single-place reporting

Now that Facebook has made it a little less overwhelming for marketers to create campaigns and set ads, the focus shifts to the reporting bit. Previously, the reports would be scooped out of from both Ads Manager and Power Editor.

However, with this new change, marketers can access their ad reports from a single place itself, under the new Ads Manager. They will find various metrics such as activity history, charts, date benchmarks, exported insights, etc. for perusal.

Conclusion

Running Facebook ads was always seen as a task, especially by new marketers. However, the social media giant has realised that it has got to make it easier for everyone to run ads. So if anyone hasn’t used Ads Manager or Power Editor yet, then they should keep aside their hesitation and get started right away.
